El Miguelete tower
This is one of the city’s most emblematic monuments, and is located beside the main door of the cathedral. From the top it offers outstanding views over Valencia and its fertile agricultural area. It was built in 1381 and has an octagonal floor plan and a solid appearance.
Castle of Santa Bárbara
The location on Monte Benacantil gives the castle great strategic value. It acquired its name because Prince Alfonso de Castilla took it from the Islamic forces on St. Barbara’s day. In the time of Philip II the castle was remodelled.
Segorbe cathedral
It was built in the 13th century, joined to the defensive wall, although it was completed with several different works through to the 15th century. The Gothic church has one nave with side chapels. The doorway is from the 16th and 17th centuries.
Valencia Institute of Modern Art (IVAM)
The museum takes a look at the artistic avant-garde of the 20th century, from Abstract and Pop Art, through to European Informalism and the New Figurative movement. Its permanent exhibition features the Julio González and Pinazo collections, and it offers a programme of activities with temporary exhibitions, lectures, courses and workshops.
