Five places in the Valencian Community where you can enjoy the snow

We propose you five places of the Valencian Community to spend a day with your family and enjoy with the little ones of the house while they play to make snowmen, snowballs are thrown and in the best of the cases they are thrown in sleigh. Because in addition to skiing, the snow offers a wide range of possibilities to spend the day in the middle of nature.

Morella

The Castellón town of Morella, distinguished as one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Spain is one of the places where you can spend a day of snow with your family. This small town of just 2,800 inhabitants presumes to be included in the network of ‘The most beautiful villages in Spain’ since January 2013. One of its greatest attractions, in addition to its mountain landscapes, forests and ravines is the walled castle that envelops the population.

Requena

The Cabriel river limits it by the West and the South, with deep throats; by the East and North, the ‘Sierra de Juan Navarro’ and the ‘Pico del Tejo’ (1,250 m.) separate it from the ‘Serrania del Turia’. Because of its proximity – it is only 67 km from Valencia – and its landscapes are one of the most suitable alternatives to visit as a family.

Bocairent

This Valencian town is a singular village with a huge attraction. Spend the day and tour the villages of the ‘Sierra de Mariola’ (like Alcoi, Cocentaina, Muro del Alcoi, Agres, Alfafara, Banyeres de Mariola …) can be a unique experience, especially with the landscape full of snow. In addition to its architecture and its mountain gastronomy in the surroundings of Bocairent, should see the ‘Cava de Sant Blai’ (snow pit), the ‘Coves dels Mores’, old train track Alcoy -Villena, the church of ‘Nuestra Señora de la Asunción’ and a Bullring excavated in part on the stone built in 1843.

Barracas

Another place to see the snow on weekend is Barracas located in the province of Castellón and in the ‘Alto Palancia’ region. This town is bordering on Aragonese lands and very close to areas of snow and slopes such as the ‘Sierra de Javalambre’. In this environment you can make visits to the forest where you can contemplate spectacular landscapes, routes through the old town that take you to know exciting stories and lovers of gastronomy can taste the most typical winter dishes where the spoon is the great guest.

Ademuz

If you do not mind to make a longer journey, another of the places that we propose to enjoy a snowy day is Ademuz. This rural area is located between the provinces of Cuenca and Teruel and crossed by the Turia. In Ademuz you can visit the Hermitage of the ‘Virgen de la Huerta’, climb the Castro peak and contemplate the mountains and hills that surround this place.
